Shirodhara is considered a therapeutic and rejuvenating Ayurvedic treatment for stabilizing the state of mind and body, bringing them into harmony,  Shirodhara works on a physical, mental and emotional level.

A warm soothing and continuous flow of medicated oil is poured over the 3rd eye area for 30 minutes giving one the feeling of being in a deep state of relaxation, a meditative state of complete peace.

The use of the warm medicated oil and the area it is poured has a direct calming effect on the nervous system helping to restore its balance.

After the flow of oil a head massage is given and specific marma points are worked to help further balance the senses.

How often should you have Shirodhara?

Depends on the individual, consecutive treatments are recommended for those wanting relief from insomnia, depression, stress etc… followed by a regular maintenance program. For general relaxation and for less chronic conditions then either weekly to monthly is recommended.

After treatment care

  • Leave some time after your treatment to rest
  • Follow therapist home recommendations
  • Leave the oil on for at least 1 hour before you shower
  • Eat a light meal after your treatment
  • Drink plenty of warm water or herbal tea
  • Try to avoid stimulants that may not support the desired effect of your treatment

This treatment involves the use of oil, we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting oil on until you can shower.
