The word Svastha in Sanskrit refers to a state of our own complete health and inner balance.

Svastha Yoga is based on the teachings of the legendary yogi Sri T. Krishnamacharya passed on by his long time students A.G. and Indra Mohan, founders of Svastha Yoga and Ayurveda in Chennai, India.

Rather than a standardised style or brand of yoga, this is classical yoga as taught by Sri Krishnamacharya – an inclusive and integrated approach, where each person’s individuality and unique requirements are honoured.

Like other schools of Yoga, Svastha teaches classical yoga postures. However, Svastha yoga emphasizes proper breathing combined with movement, as the breath is a powerful tool for restoring structural, functional and psychological balance.

The underlying principles that Svasthas authentic approach is guided by

  • Proper breathing and its effect on the mind and body
  • The relationship between breathing and conscious movement
  • Intelligent sequencing for postures, breathing and meditation
  • Personalization of practice to the individual
