Read More About Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy is for those who require some one on one attention and not suited to a group class environment.

As the name suggests Yoga Therapy is the therapeutic application of yoga to assist with a range of physical, emotional and mental health concerns. Yoga Therapy is a holistic form of healing which utilises the entire spectrum of Yoga practices and the wisdom of Ayurveda to effect health and healing on an individual basis. Rather than only treating the specific health concern, yoga Therapy considers  the whole person who they are and how they are affected.

While yoga in general can be considered a therapeutic practice, the very nature of a group class is more directed to the group as a whole and may not be suitable for those presenting specific injuries or health concerns rather than the individuals needs.

Your Teacher Kim Allan is a Certified Registered Yoga Therapist and Senior Registered Svastha Yoga teacher with over 15 yrs experience and an Ayurvedic Consultant.

During your initial consultation Kim will be listening to your concerns, gaining insight into your current abilities around movement and breath and identifying your goals.

A Yoga Therapy Consultation is different to your regular Yoga class as it will be an individualized approach to suit your needs, abilities and take into account your current lifestyle and commitments. The session includes the use of Yogic principals and tools such as breath, sound/mantra , specific movements, meditation and mindfulness to assist you with achieving your goals.

From this Kim will design an easy to follow program for you to practice at home that will lead you in a progressive manner towards wellness.

Yoga therapy classes will help you understand and manage your body better. Yoga will improve your posture and breathing and help the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and nervous systems function more smoothly – meaning you’ll suffer less physical pain and experience a better quality of life.

Kizzali Bolus treatment is where a bolus of Ayurvedic fresh and dried herbs, soaked in hot medicated oil, is used to massage the body. The warm oil and massage with the bolus carry the herbs deep into the body, allowing deep seated toxins to be dislodged from muscle, bone and nervous tissue.

After this treatment, a herbalised steam is given at a specific temperature that helps to open the channels and flush the toxins from the body.

This treatment involves the use of oil, we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting oil on, until you can shower.

After treatment care

  • Follow therapist home recommendations
  • Leave the oil on for at least 1 hour before you shower
  • Eat a light meal after your treatment
  • Drink plenty of warm water or herbal tea
  • Try to avoid stimulants that may not support the desired effect of your treatment
